Outstanding Service Recognised at UBC's Annual Team Awards

As a vital part of the UK's thriving Service Industry, it goes without saying that the No.1 component of UBC's service provision is our people. After all, our serviced offices simply wouldn't exist without the skills, dedication and support of UBC's hardworking teams.

So every year, UBC recognises staff achievements at an internal awards celebration. On Saturday 23rd January, UBC employees from all over the UK were welcomed to a celebratory evening at Ardencote Manor in Warwickshire - a beautiful 19th century country manor with attractive surroundings and excellent dining.

Team of the Year

Prior to the ceremony, each of UBC's 10 business centre teams were asked to submit a nomination and explain why they deserve the Team of the Year Award. Speaking on Saturday, John Bryce, Director announced the winner as Team Birchwood, located at UBC's Rutherford House in Warrington.

Sam, Team Birchwood

John commented: "This team fly the UBC flag, promote the ethos of the company and, as individuals, complement each other so well that they are willing to transfer their skills and efforts to assist, where possible, in other areas of the business."

Rutherford House was launched in 2015, which meant the team had to work extremely hard to get the new centre up and running. John recognised the challenges they faced and was particularly impressed by how quickly the team adapted to their new surroundings and reached a high level of occupancy in very little time.

"This team has had a successful 2015 - the occupancy is good and feedback from their clients is very positive. Their centre launch event earlier in 2015 was a huge success and consequently they were asked to assist in the launch event preparations for Birmingham Business Park, which was again another success."

In addition to managing their own centre, the Birchwood team regularly contributes to marketing and operational duties for UBC, which recently included upgrading to a new software programme. The Birchwood team also held numerous networking events throughout the year, raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust, Children in Need and MacMillan Cancer in the process.

Congratulations Team Birchwood for a much-deserved award!

Employee of the Year

Of course a great team relies on outstanding individuals, and UBC is proud to employ a great number of exceptional people - many of whom have been part of the team for several years. Yet, this also makes the shortlisting process rather difficult.

Running through the qualities required of UBC's Employee of the Year, UBC’s MD Tom Mulvaney explained: "It must be someone who wants our customers and prospective customers to have a positive experience in all their dealings with UBC. This person isn't just a model employee, they are an exceptional employee, the kind who loves coming to work and who worries about the business when they have a day off."

Tom announced Andrew Billson (National Sales Manager) as UBC's Employee of the Year, who is both highly skilled in what he does and who has become "the perfect ambassador" for UBC both internally and externally.

All in all, 2015 has been another exciting chapter in UBC's history. Managing Director Tom Mulvaney reflected on the year:

"2015 was year of great change and progress on a number of fronts for UBC, new centres, new branding, investment and new systems. All of which required a great deal of individual commitment and teamwork. The choice of 'Team of the Year' and indeed 'Employee of the Year' was made more difficult by the quality of candidates but we believe we got it right on the night, with the winners just edging out their competitors for the titles."

Tom concluded: "2016 will present more opportunities for us to demonstrate that commitment to delivering great customer service and excellent personal performances as we look to fill our new centres and acquire more centres around the country."
