UBC Celebrates Birthday Bash in Birchwood

UBC Celebrates Birthday Bash in Birchwood

On Monday 27th January 2020, UBC celebrated the 5th anniversary of its Rutherford House business centre in Birchwood, Warrington, with a special birthday bash.

UBC first acquired the workspace at the end of 2014, and no sooner had the ink dried on the lease than UBC set about refurbishing the office interiors.

With the help of GR8 Office Interiors, the space was completely transformed over a period of several months. Work included re-cabling, partitioning, laying carpets, decorating and furnishing - all in line with UBC’s branding - and building new kitchens, lounge areas and meeting room facilities.

New tech, phone and Internet connections were installed by UBC’s telecommunications partner, technologywithin (formerly ip-Xchange), ensuring that all of the offices were completely connected and ready for companies to move in and get straight to work.

After the last finishing touches, UBC’s Birchwood offices were officially opened in early 2015.

Birchwood’s Birthday Bash

Five years later, Rutherford House is a vibrant business hub that’s home to local entrepreneurs, small businesses and corporate teams. To mark the centre’s 5-year anniversary, UBC held a special networking event with guest speakers, drinks and nibbles for clients and guests.

Jane Erasmus, Sales & Marketing Director at UBC, said: “We are incredibly lucky in Birchwood to be part of a vibrant and supportive business community, so we didn’t want to miss this opportunity to say thank you to the business friends we have made over the last 5 years.”

The day started with a welcome address and refreshments before UBC’s first speaker Becs Bate, Social Media Executive, gave an informative talk on how to use social media content to get your business seen in 2020.

Becs’ presentation was packed with insights and advice on effective content for social media, including which channel is best for your business, what type of updates you should post, and how to utilise local events to maximise exposure.

UBC’s next speaker was Kirsty James from Colony Networking, who spoke about how to make the most out of your networking experience. Colony runs its own brand of networking events across Warrington, Liverpool and Chester and also hosts a series of business development events, including workshops and conferences, along with one-to-one business consultancy.

Following Kirsty’s presentation, guests were treated to lunch and a delicious slice of birthday cake before moving onto the final presentation of the day, delivered by Tony McGuire of Opal Consulting.

Tony, a business adviser and management consultant, gave valuable advice on how to use Google My Business, which is an essential piece of marketing for 2020. By learning how to use Google My Business, entrepreneurs can increase their online visibility by becoming well-placed on Google Maps, improving their search result rankings, and attracting more relevant website traffic.

The day concluded with refreshments and networking, along with the chance to sample a number of tasty products from visiting exhibitors 3 Pugs Gin, Jean Juviniere Wine Specialists, and Rach’s Sticky Jam Pot.

Expansion Plans for UBC Birchwood

What made the event more memorable is that UBC was able to announce expansion plans for part of Rutherford House. Currently, UBC is refitting the East Wing to provide new larger meeting and conference facilities, which will provide up to 30 capacity meeting space, along with a business lounge and coworking space set to be launched this quarter.

Bookings are already being taken for the newly expanded space and UBC is hosting a networking event set to take place on the morning of Monday 16th March featuring Sharon Cowley of Conexus Tuition
