Creating a Better World Together: UBC Pledges Support for National Autistic Society

At UBC and Inigo Business Centres, we are excited to announce that we will be supporting the National Autistic Society for the second half of 2023 and into 2024.

Since 1962, the charity has been working to transform lives and change attitudes to help create a society that works for the 700,000 autistic people living in the UK, and their families.

The National Autistic Society is dedicated to improving public understanding of autism and helping businesses, local authorities and government to provide more autism-friendly spaces, deliver better services, and improve laws. The charity runs specialist schools, campaigns for improved rights, provides in-depth advice and guidance, trains companies on being more autism-friendly, and more.

Blanche Coalwood, Corporate Partnerships Officer at National Autistic Society, said:

“We at National Autistic Society rely on support from businesses who operate in the communities we work in and we are so grateful to the employees at UBC and Inigo for choosing to support us.

“We have this year launched our new three year ‘Vision to Reality’ strategy, which defines the unique role the National Autistic Society will play in creating a society that works for autistic people focusing on support for all autistic individuals and their families to live a fulfilled life on their terms, to influence and collaborate with others to improve standards and adjustments and to transform society by building understanding, acceptance and respect for all autistic people.

“I look forward to working closely with you and planning some exciting fundraising events and most importantly I am really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together to help ensure we can continue to receive the crucial support autistic people and their families need. Thank you, UBC and Inigo!”

Over the years UBC has supported a number of local charities for autistic people. Our Rutherford House office in Birchwood is currently home to a branch of Autism Initiatives, a nationwide organisation that offers support for autistic people and their families.

Until recently we also provided workspace to Creating Adventures at Rutherford House in Birchwood, Warrington, which provided founder Jenny Allcock with some much-needed space in which to carry out organisational tasks and office work. Creating Adventures is now based at The Old School in Warrington, where the charity hosts workshops and community events.

We are looking forward to taking our support further by raising funds and awareness for The National Autistic Society – and that means we are once again calling on the generosity of our wonderful clients, colleagues, and friends.

We already have activities lined up for July, including a Wimbledon fundraiser and a Keepy Uppy challenge, which involves bouncing a tennis ball on the side of a tennis racket (it’s more difficult than it sounds!) And in true Wimbledon spirit, we’re offering strawberries and cream during the afternoon of Thursday 13th July, too.

Whether you take part in our monthly activities, pledge some time to volunteer for the National Autistic Society, or donate online to our 2023-2024 fundraising campaign, every little helps.
