Blooming Success: UBC’s 'Grow With Us' Project Reveals Its Winner

UBC’s UK School Project 'Grow With Us' Celebrates Sunflower Success

Earlier this year, UBC and sister company Inigo Business Centres launched a schools project called ‘Grow With Us’, in which schoolchildren across the UK took part in a competition to grow the tallest sunflower.

In the run-up to summer, schoolchildren and their teachers carefully grew and nurtured their plants from seed, taking regular measurements and photographs to monitor progress.

Having received final measurements and photographs of all the plants, we are delighted to announce that we now have the results.

Drumroll please…

The winner is: Wootton Wawen in Henley-in-Arden!

Their impressive sunflower reached a soaring height of 2.47 metres and looked absolutely beautiful in their garden.

The winning school has received a fantastic prize of £1000 in book tokens. Who knows, perhaps our green-thumbed team will select some horticultural books and take their learning a step further?

‘Grow With Us’ was a fantastic experience and we were thrilled to give young people a positive early encounter with the world of work and entrepreneurship, and to introduce them to some of the future employment opportunities that are available on their doorstep.

"We are so pleased to have won the Sunflower Competition and very excited to be able to spend the vouchers on new, exciting books for our library and reading scheme," says Jessica Jones, Headteacher of Wootton Wawen Primary School. The victory will undoubtedly enrich the school's reading resources, providing students with a wide array of literature to explore.

Karen Osborne, Operations Director at UBC, expressed her delight at Wootton Wawen Primary School's victory, saying, "Their dedication to nurturing their sunflowers reflects the spirit of entrepreneurship and teamwork that we aim to instil in young minds through this initiative. Congratulations to Wootton Wawen Primary School for cultivating not only tall sunflowers but also the essential skills of planning and cooperation. This campaign has been a fantastic opportunity to connect with local schools and provide students with an exciting introduction to the world of work and entrepreneurship."
