65 Church Street Gets into Shape with New Management Team
This summer, UBC welcomed a new management team to 65 Church Street in Central Birmingham: Business Centre Manager, Ben Taylor Cohen, and Customer Service Assistant Amy Baldock.
Ben joined UBC from David Lloyd Health Club, for whom he worked for a number of years, and Amy joins UBC from her previous role as a hotel receptionist.
Ben explained, “I worked as a personal trainer for 3 or so years, then moved into sales and membership for another 3 years. I worked at most David Lloyd clubs around the West Midlands including Dudley, Bromsgrove, Great Barr and Solihull (Cranmore and Monkspath).”
Whilst the sports and fitness industry might seem poles apart from commercial property, Ben’s management experience is just the job for managing a busy business centre in the heart of Birmingham’s Colmore Row commercial district.
Not only that, Ben’s knowledge of health and fitness offers a fresh perspective for clients who wish to improve their own wellbeing in the workplace. His most immediate priority, however, is settling into Church Street and getting to know the many names and faces of businesses based there.
“I have settled in really well and I’m getting to know the clients here. I have also recruited a full-time Customer Service Assistant for 65 Church Street, Amy Baldock, so we can now really focus on our customer service and work together as a team to improve the business centre as much as possible.”
Given Amy’s background in hotel services and hospitality, she is used to looking after clients and visitors and has adapted to the role at 65 Church Street quickly and efficiently.
Over the next few months, Ben is working to increase occupancy at 65 Church Street whilst Amy focuses on managing the busy front desk and delivering day-to-day support to business centre clients.
Already, Ben has wasted no time in getting down to business and has so far filled 15 serviced office workstations in July, with many more promising opportunities in the pipeline.
“I also plan to go to as many local and regional events as possible to get the word out there, and bring more businesses to our serviced offices and meeting rooms here in Birmingham.”
In addition, the duo will be getting to grips with UBC’s nationwide campaign for UK children’s charity, KidsOut, which will eventually include regular fundraising schemes and special events at 65 Church Street. Although given Ben’s background in health and fitness, the traditional cake bakes and seasonal goodies may well be switched out for somewhat healthier alternatives...
