Team Achievements Recognised at Annual UBC Awards Celebration

At the beginning of every year, UBC holds a company-wide event to reward employees for their hard work and dedication over the past 12 months.

The event includes the announcement of two awards for UBC Employee of the Year and Team of the Year, which is an opportunity for UBC to celebrate our hardworking and talented staff and to recognise their individual and team achievements.

In January 2018, UBC’s annual awards celebration was held at the Park Regis Hotel in Birmingham.

Team of the Year

Team of the Year 2017 was won by Andy Stewart and Kim Waite from UBC’s Forward House in Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire.

Richard Johnson, Managing Director of UBC, said that Andy and Kim worked tirelessly to improve every aspect of the UBC business in Forward House during 2017, and delivered top class results.

“They have over-achieved on every commercial forecast, and established UBC at the core of every one of their clients’ businesses through an unwavering focus on customer service and delivery.”

“This is demonstrated in their consistently high levels of client retention and the quality of the 100% client nominations they received as part of the BCA Awards.”

Employee of the Year

Employee of the Year 2017 was awarded to Sharon Attwood, UBC’s Financial Controller. Sharon, who is based at the company head office at Birmingham Business Park in the West Midlands, was picked for the award “as the impact of her efforts benefit every part of the business”.

Richard said: “To have live, 100% accurate, financial and business reporting is invaluable to the centre managers, UBC’s management and the UBC board.”

“Sharon has made a significant contribution from day one of joining the UBC management team, has significantly developed and lead the finance team to constantly over-deliver and is an incredibly worthy winner of Employee of the Year.”

Looking ahead to 2018

2017 was a busy and positive year for UBC. Among the key highlights, a packed schedule of business centre fundraising events produced thousands of pounds for UBC’s nominated charity KidsOut, thanks to the enthusiasm of UBC staff and generous donations by business centre clients.

2017 saw strong sales performance for UBC across a good number of centres, including Brentford, Birmingham Business Park, Henley-in-Arden, Southampton and Rutherford House in Birchwood, resulting in a 10% increase in occupancy nationally. The highlight of the calendar was in November when UBC Cirencester scooped the BCA’s prestigious ‘Business Centre of the Year’ award at their Annual Awards Gala Dinner.

Commenting on the coming year, Richard added:

“2018 is the year to make a difference; we are starting from a position of strength and UBC needs to build on the successes of last year and to capitalise on every opportunity in 2018.

“We have fantastic properties, in key locations, operated by award-winning teams. UBC will continue to improve, but critically we will also seek to grow the business through additions to our portfolio of business centres.”
