Meet the Company that’s Building Positive Financial Futures in Fleet

Rightly or wrongly, the term ‘wealth management’ is often associated with affluent individuals and businesses. But it’s actually a form of financial advice that’s applicable to everybody - regardless of the size of your own or your company’s ‘wealth’.

Geoff Day from Wilcox Day Wealth Management, a financial advisory firm based at UBC’s Sentinel House in Fleet, has dedicated his career to financial services. Central to his philosophy is helping individuals to think about their future and make better financial choices to achieve their aspirations. The same applies to business owners. Busy entrepreneurs often focus more on their business than their own personal finances

Aligning finances with life goals

Whether for individuals or businesses, it all starts by “getting under the bonnet of their goals” and working to align the finances with these aspirations.

In an ideal world, the earlier in life this process starts, the better. But as Geoff pointed out, financial advice is sadly largely absent from the education system.

“People are never taught about money. That first job is a shock to the system. We aim to educate people by encouraging them to think about their future and help set them up for key life stages. It’s about figuring out how to make their money go further.”

Wilcox Day based at applies this philosophy to their own employees, too. The focus is on developing every team member’s career by understanding both their professional and personal aspirations, and helping them get there through training, qualifications, and mentorship.

And it works. Wilcox Day, which started initially with Geoff operating independently, has grown as a business and is now bringing on more staff.

Achieving focus through flexibility

The team is located at Sentinel House in Fleet, and Geoff credits his ability to focus both on the needs of his clients and running the business with the flexibility of his UBC office.

“Without question, the biggest selling point of being here is that I can focus on the business instead of running an office. I wouldn’t have the time or capability to run an office on top.

“Secondly, having the ability to change office size and ‘flex up’ without relocating is a great advantage. Since I moved here, we have moved offices three or four times in line with our growing team. The disruption of moving to a larger office is minimal when it’s within the same building, and we keep the same address too.”

Looking ahead, UBC is thrilled to continue supporting the Wilcox Day team as they continue their growth journey from Sentinel House, and we look forward to welcoming their new team members in the very near future.
