Where to Enjoy the Outdoors at UBC Offices

Where to Enjoy the Outdoors at UBC Offices

We all know the British weather can be unpredictable at best, so when the sunshine breaks through the clouds, dash out there and enjoy it.

All of our UBC offices are in regional locations, away from congested central areas, which means you’ll find lots of great places for a lunchtime stroll, an outdoor meeting or even a post-work jog.

Here are some suggestions for each of our 7 UK locations:

Southampton: Enterprise House

With the marina right on the doorstep, Enterprise House is a picturesque place to walk.

For lunchtimes and breaks, take a leisurely waterfront walk around Ocean Village. You can walk right along the water as far as Itchen Bridge, or head in the other direction towards Queen’s Park.

There are a number of cafes and restaurants by the waterfront offering hot drinks and takeaways.

Fleet, Hampshire: Sentinel House

Switch ocean views for lakeside walks in Fleet, home of UBC's Sentinel House offices on Ancells Business Park.

Fleet is home to the largest freshwater lake in Hampshire. Despite carrying the rather underwhelming name of Fleet Pond, this beautiful lake and Nature Reserve is a Site of Special Scientific Interest that covers a vast area, and is home to a rich and diverse community of animal and plant life.

This local Reserve includes woodland walks, heathland, reed beds and marsh that's home to an abundance of wildlife, flora and fauna. It's within a 15-minute walk from our Fleet offices and is an oasis of calm. It has a designated picnic area and a network of cleared and railed paths, making it the perfect place for a lunchtime stroll.

Brentford, West London: The Mille

Located on the ‘Golden Mile’ near Brentford, West London, our offices at The Mille are popular with businesses looking for easy access to Central London.

The great thing about being away from the city centre is that you have plenty of green spaces on your doorstep. From The Mille, you can walk to Boston Manor Park within just a few minutes. It’s an attractive park situated alongside the River Brent, which connects to numerous other parks including Boston Manor Playing Fields and Park Elthorne.

Slightly further afield you’ll find Warren Farm Nature Reserve and the National Trust’s Osterley Park. A short drive south of The Mille is the vast Syon Park estate, and the much-loved Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.

Cirencester, Cotswolds: UBC Cirencester

Widely considered the ‘Heart of the Cotswolds’, Cirencester is the ideal spot for outdoor exploration.

Our offices in Cirencester are located on the rural edge of the town centre, along Tetbury Road (A429). The vast and beautiful Cirencester Park, part of Bathurst Estate, is a short drive away with many lovely trails to enjoy. Take a look at this walking map for Cirencester Park - and don’t forget your hiking boots!

Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire: Forward House

Located at the top of the High Street, our office space in Henley-in-Arden is within reach of the Millennium Way Walk - a superb 100-mile long-distance trail that crosses the heart of England. While you won’t complete 100 miles in your lunch break, you can enjoy a stretch of this walk from the town centre. Start at the 15th century church of St John the Baptist, situated on the corner of the High Street and Beaudesert Lane in Henley-in-Arden. From here you can follow part of the Millennium Way or switch to a circular 5-mile route (get directions here).

Another outdoor spot to visit is Henley Sidings, maintained by the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust - a 500m stretch of old railway embankment filled with wildflowers.

Birmingham Business Park, West Midlands

When it comes to outdoor spaces, you can’t beat the setting of Birmingham Business Park.

Surrounded by 148 acres of mature parkland, with open spaces, level footpaths, woodlands, lakes and nature walks, it’s a fantastic place to stretch your legs during the working day.

Warrington, Birchwood: Rutherford House

Overlooking Birchwood Park, our offices at Rutherford House are perfect for walks and al fresco lunches.

There is an abundance of space around the landscaped park with outdoor seating areas and benches around the lake. For a hot drink or a takeaway lunch, head to the Engine Rooms at Birchwood Park, just a short walk away.
